The
Institute is currently supporting the Government of Andhra Pradesh
in developing Water Safety Plans in
Hyderabad
through funding from the World Health Organization.
The Plans are being developed based on a comprehensive risk
assessment and risk management approach that encompasses all steps
in water supply from catchment to consumer. A key contribution of
the Institute is the establishment of health based targets. These
targets were developed taking into account the disease burden in
the community, exposures that contribute most to disease and the
socioeconomic determinants of exposure to risks.
