The library has a collection of books,
journals and periodicals mostly in the area of health economics, health informatics,
community health, quality assurance in health, health services research, health policy
studies, vital and health statistics. A computerised catalogue is available for easy
retrieval. The library has reading room and the Library is fully
Air-Conditioned. |

Internet terminals are also available in the
library with 64 Kbps Leased Line for more enhanced literature search. |
|

|
In addition IHS has an institutional
membership of the British library and the National Institute of
Nutrition (NIN). The British library is within walking distance from
IHS. |

|
IHS uses the MEDLARS service provided by the
National Informatics Centre, Hyderabad for online searches of medical literature
bibliographic databases. The NIC GISTNIC and MEDLARS service points are at a walking
distance. |
|

|

|
The library is run by trained staff who assist
users in making maximum use of the library and act as intermediaries in obtaining
information elsewhere. |

Visitors |
|
|
Visitors just using the library for a short
time may read journals only in the library, but may not borrow.
They have no access to IHS research papers, report series,
publications and all other books. |
|
|
|
|
|
External members |
|
|
Any individual who has an avid interest in
books can become a member of the library by paying a small fee. |
